THE BIRTH OF SHOREWORTHY

Those four walls now, are the only place that I can breathe out… and those four walls now are home.
— Broods

IS THIS REAL LIFE?! I’ve spent many years dreaming about my home, the family that will be inside of it, and the people I would entertain.

now here we are, on the the South Shores of the Midwest, doing our very best to live the ShoreWorthy life.

I have loads of things in store I want to share! Some about life, some about what we LOVE TO wear, THINGS WE CAn’t live without, HOW WE TURNED A BOX INTO OUR HOME, AND MY INNATE STUDY OF HOW WE CREATE THE environment around uS!

…AND OF COURSE, lots about the THREE cutest boys that roam with us on the south shore! I think Ben would agree that most days, we can’t even believe how cool they are and that we get to be their parents. can’t handle it.

who’s Ben? He’s Mr. Shore Worthy! …and his favorite thing to say to me when I run my mouth with idea after idea is, “DO IT.” He’s never allowed me to think I can’t do something. He always thinks I have the best ideas (most the time), and when I feel like I might explode from the creative-mind-whirlwind that I often get myself into, he sends me to the West Coast to get rejuvenated and for that, GOTTA LOVE THAT MAN.

I’m a bit of a flight risk. Ok i’m a SERIOUS flight risk.

Ben and I lived in Southern California when we were dating because Ben was in the Coast Guard and stationed in the Long Beach Harbor.

I TRY TO GET BACK TO California EVERY CHANCE I GET, and EACH timE, my heart just aches to never leave. Literally aches. The deepest, most intense parts of my soul long to be back FOREVER. ESPECIALLY WHEN THE SNOW FLIES HERE IN THE MIDWEST… MY FRIENDS ARE ALWAYS WORRIED IF I’LL STAY, OR HIT THE ROAD. HAHA.

When I moved there, I swore up and down I’d never return to the plains of South Dakota.

It’s not because I hate it here. It’s just that my soul comes alive on the West Coast. The environment is too good. So much inspiration. So much sun. So much less SNOW. Homegirl loves getting in a 100 degree car in the summer and sitting for a few minutes before turning on the AC, just to get my bones warm. How amazing to wake up 365 days a year to the most neutral, life-giving weather of all time?! TAKE ME TO THE COAST.

The flight risk, FREE-TO-BE-ME side, is just half of me. I’m also an extreme realist. Ironic, right? This side of me loves the Midwest. Why? Because family, cost of living, ability to be anyone you want to be, and start any business you want to start AND be successful at it, because that’s what this community does. They love to support small business and local entrepreneurs. The people are the best, and of course they’d all say they “love the seasons!”. Not this girl. I need one season, and that’s SUMMER. You’ll gather that a time or two if you spend any amount of time with me here at Shoreworthy.

Growing up, I had the best life here! We ran the neighborhoods, rode our bikes to the corner gas station, checked in when the sun went down and ran right back out for neighborhood driveway hangs. So grateful to my parents for the life they gave us. It was a good time to be alive. I want this for our boys, too.

So. WE’RE BACK, but on the South Shores of South Dakota. Our kids have their grandparents… and let’s be honest, THREE kids means we NEED our parents. My parents will actually live RIGHT NEXT DOOR very soon. Like we will be able to wave at Mom in the kitchen window while she makes her morning coffee kind of close. Too close?

aside from throwing in the towel and moving my entire family to the West Coast, I’ve decided there is only one thing I CAN do, and that is to create the environment around me to feed my soul the way THE WEST COAST does.

The last 34 years of my life has shaped me and brought me to this space. It’s a culmination of experiences we’ve had, the children we’ve created, the life we work hard for, and the life we share with our most favorite people!

There is so much good in this world and so many creative people out there who are putting out incredible things. I just want to wake up everyday and truly livE. We were created for this.

Trust me, I know the bad that exists out there. I’ve spent the last ten years of my life in the non profit world, investing in the anti human trafficking movement, creating prevention and early intervention training and protocols in our community. It’s heavy. Ben used to be a police officer. This world is HEAVY. But I’m a huge believer in investing in community AND ourselves. We don’t have to suffer along with the world, but we can live, thrive, and create while also fighting for justice at the same time.

I’m inspired by the creative people who take risks, build businesses, and wake up every day taking creative liberty wherever their hearts desire. This is the spirit I catch while walking the land along the coast.

This is Shoreworthy. It’s my happy, and i’m so excited to share it with you! bringiNg the west coast to us, by way of design, mentality, & lifestyle. This is how we live life on the South Shore of South Dakota.

If it makes you come alivE & brings YOU peacE… If it’s genuine, worthy, & makes sense even for a second, it’s Shoreworthy.
